I’ve been robbed! Pictures, evidence & theory….
As I’ve posted on Facebook and Twitter this past weekend, I’ve been robbed! For the first time in 21 years something has been stolen from me. What’s even worse is it was out of my own room, in my own house.
Friday night my parents had some friends, and friends of friends over for a MovaVie meeting. I was out, had to pick up my aunt from the hospital, came home with some McDonald’s and went down to the family room as the meeting took place upstairs. After everyone left around 11pm. I went into my room to change into my pajamas. The first thing I noticed when I walked into my room was that my plastic container of change was missing. I looked around, but it was gone. It obviously didn’t fall onto the floor, I would’ve seen it. Along with my change, they took about $25 in cash. Surprisingly, my laptop and USB thumb-drive were still on my bed.
I told my parents about it, and they were shocked. They couldn’t believe it. I came to the conclusion it had to be someone at the party who took it, because I had been in and out of my room before everyone came over, and hadn’t noticed anything missing.
This past weekend while doing some yard work with my dad to get the house ready for my sister’s 19th birthday party, we noticed some clues. The first thing my dad noticed after walking out down the deck was loose change at the bottom of the stairs, trailing to the right…heading around to the front of the house. He picked it up before I could take a picture, but I took a picture of the other clues. Here’s what I think happened:
There’s a hole in the screen in the bathroom window. My room is right across from the bathroom, they could have easily taken the money, went into the bathroom, opened the screen, tossed out the container of change and then place the screen back. The fact that there’s a hole in the screen leads me to believe the thief may have been female…long finger nails?
They did not do a good job replacing that screen though….
This is what I saw at the bottom of the bathroom window outside…loose change all over the place! They obviously threw the container out the window…maybe they just left it there, went back and continued to socialize. As they left, they probably went around back to pick up the rest of my money and scram!
So there you have it. I’ve used my Batman detective skills to piece together what I think happened the night of Friday, June 26th. Obviously the thief wasn’t very bright, look at all the evidence he/she left behind! If you’re reading this and you took my money, please return it. Put it in an envelope and just put in my mailbox. I shouldn’t have to feel like my things will be taken from my own room when my parents have friends over, but now I’ll think twice about where I leave my money and valuable electronics when people I haven’t met before come over.
